Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 Directors Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn to deliver closing keynote at VIEW CONFERENCE (15-18 October 2013)
23 August, TURIN, Italy: VIEW Conference 2013 is delighted to announce that Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn, the directors of Sony Pictures Animation’s upcoming feature Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 will present a keynote address at this year’s gathering of computer graphics luminaries, students, and professionals. They join keynote speaker John Knoll, Industrial Light & Magic’s chief creative officer, on the roster during the October 15 to 18 conference in Turin, Italy.
“I can’t wait to see the keynote presentation by Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn,” says conference director Maria Elena Gutierrez. “I know they will be inspirational, entertaining, and fun. And, I’m excited they can give our Italian attendees a sneak peak of this new animated feature.”
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 builds on the delicious success of the 2009 hit comedy Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, also from Sony Pictures Animation (SPA). The animated comedy releases September 27 in the U.S. and December 25 in Italy distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures Italia.
Prior to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, director Cody Cameron helmed Sony Pictures Animation’s direct-to-video Open Season 3 and the short film The Chubbchubbs Save Xmas. His story artist credits include the original Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Surf’s Up, Shrek, Shrek 2, and Madagascar. Cameron also occasionally provides voices during his spare time such as Pinocchio and the Three Pigs in the Shrek series, or Mr. Weenie in Open Season.
Director Kris Pearn served as head of story on the original Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. He was also a storyboard artist on various Sony Pictures Animation projects including The Pirates! Band of Misfits, Arthur Christmas, Surf’s Up, and Open Season. He received Annie Award nominations for his work as a storyboard artist in 2007 for Open Season, and in 2012 for Arthur Christmas.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 picks up where Sony Pictures Animation’s mouth-watering comedy left off. Inventor Flint Lockwood thought he saved the world when he destroyed his most infamous invention — a machine that turned water into food causing cheeseburger rain and spaghetti tornadoes. But Flint soon learns that his invention survived and is now creating food-animals – “foodimals!” Flint and his friends embark on a dangerously delicious mission to battle hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, hippotatomuses, cheespiders and other foodimals to save the world – again!
“One of the amazing things about the Cloudy films is how the artists make the CG food look so appealing,” Gutierrez says. “I know our attendees are hungry to know more about the whole creative process.”
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is Sony Pictures Animation’s ninth animated feature film. The studio’s features have received numerous Oscar, Golden Globe, Annie, and Visual Effects Society nominations.
The VIEW Conference is Italy’s largest computer graphics conference. Now in its 14th year, the international symposium brings together directors, visual effects supervisors, animators, graphic designers, sound designers, architects, game developers and other artists to inspire, teach, and engage students and professionals from around the world who attend the presentations and practical workshops.??

Piovono Polpette 2, presentato dai registi Cody Cameron e Kris Pearn – a VIEW Conference (Torino, 15 – 18 ottobre 2013)
La nuovissima e gustosissima produzione della Sony Pictures Animation Piovono polpette 2, verrà presentata dai registi Cody Cameron e Kris Pearn a VIEW Conference 2013, la più importante conferenza italiana sulla computer grafica, che si terrà a Torino dal 15 al 18 ottobre 2013. I due registi andranno ad arricchire il programma di VIEW, aggiungendosi alla rosa di relatori che prevede anche il prestigioso keynote speaker John Knoll, direttore creativo della Industrial Light & Magic.
“Non vedo l’ora di vedere la presentazione di Cody Cameron e Kris Pearn”, spiega la direttrice di VIEW Maria Elena Gutierrez. “Sono certa che i due registi riusciranno a divertire e coinvolgere il pubblico, ed essere fonte di ispirazione. Inoltre sono entusiasta di poter dare all’Italia un’anteprima di questo nuovo film di animazione”.
Piovono polpette 2 si basa sul “delizioso” successo del 2009, Piovono polpette, anch’esso prodotto da Sony Pictures Animation (SPA). La commedia d’animazione uscirà il 27 settembre negli Stati Uniti e il 25 dicembre in Italia, distribuito dalla Warner Bros. Pictures Italia.
Prima di Piovono polpette 2, il co-regista Cody Cameron ha diretto due produzioni della Sony Pictures Animation: il video Boog & Elliott 3 e il corto I Chubbchubbs salvano il Natale. Ha anche lavorato a film quali Piovono polpette, Surf ‘s Up, Shrek, Shrek 2 e Madagascar e nel tempo libero ha doppiato il personaggio di Pinocchio e dei Tre porcellini nella serie di Shrek e Mr. Weenie in Boog & Elliott.
Il co-regista Kris Pearn è stato il responsabile della sceneggiatura di Piovono Polpette e lo storyboard artist di svariati progetti della Sony Picture Animation tra cui Pirati! Briganti da strapazzo, Il figlio di Babbo Natale, Surf’s Up e Boog & Elliott. Ha ricevuto più di una nomination agli Annie Award per il suo lavoro come storyboard artist: nel 2007 per Boog & Elliott e nel 2012 per Il figlio di Babbo Natale.
Piovono Polpette 2, ricomincia proprio da dove era terminata la precedente commedia campione d’incassi della Sony Pictures Animation: l’inventore Flint Lockwood e i suoi amici pensano di aver salvato il mondo distruggendo la macchina infernale che creava tornado di spaghetti e pioggia di cheeseburger. Quando Lockwood viene a sapere che la sua invenzione è ancora in vita e sta creando minacciosi ibridi tra cibo e animali, inizia una missione delicata e pericolosa per combattere famelici Tacodrilli, Orangamberi, Torte a Sonagli, Spiderburgher ed altri Animacibi, e salvare nuovamente il mondo!
“Uno degli aspetti più incredibili della saga di Piovono Polpette è il cibo realizzato in grafica digitale. Gli artisti sono riusciti a renderlo estremamente appetitoso” dice Gutierrez “Il pubblico di VIEW non vede l’ora di conoscere più dettagli sul processo creativo”.
Piovono Polpette 2 è il nono lungometraggio d’animazione della Sony Pictures Animation. I film dello studio hanno ricevuto numerose nomination a Oscar, Golden Globe, Annie e VES.
VIEW Conference è la più importante conferenza italiana dedicata alla grafica digitale. Giunto alla 14° edizione, il simposio internazionale riunirà insieme registi, supervisori agli effetti speciali, animatori, graphic designer, sound designer, architetti, sviluppatori di videogiochi e altri artisti che ispireranno, insegneranno e coinvolgeranno studenti e professionisti in arrivo da tutto il mondo per seguire le presentazioni e i workshop pratici.
